"Never have to say wish I would have"

REGRETS...

re-gret ri'gret - verb, -gret-ted, -gret-ting,–verb (used with object)
1. to feel sorrow or remorse for (an act, fault, disappointment, etc.): He no sooner spoke than he regretted it.
2. a sense of loss, disappointment, dissatisfaction, etc.
3. a feeling of sorrow or remorse for a fault, act, loss, disappointment, etc.

Synonyms deplore, repent, rue
Related Word bemoan, bewail, lament; grieve, mourn, sorrow; deprecate, disapprove

No matter what way you look at it, how your pronounce it, or define it, regret sucks. Whether it is regret for not taking advantage of an opportunity knocking at your door, doing something you know you should, or something you know that you shouldn’t, boiled down, it’s not pretty. And can leave you with an empty and guilt driven feeling.

Sometimes you can chalk up a ‘regret’ to a learning experience. You went out on a limb only to find that it wasn’t a great decision and to look back on it you can say “I regret doing that… but….” But, had you known of the consequences you wouldn’t have done it. And in most cases you come out a little wiser from every “OOPS”. So lesson learned, and most of the time you won’t make the same mistake twice. But at least now you know.

There are the small regrets that you have that you keep to yourself. You regret not following through with a goal you had set, you may regret overspending on a day out at the mall, and then there is the regret for overindulging at your favorite eatery. These regrets although small, are still kept in your memory. The next time you go to buy that pair of expensive jeans or bag, you think “Um, remember the last time.” Is it healthy to remind yourself of these small regrets or is this something that we can let go of? It’s all of personal choice what we chose to remember and what we chose to let go. But sometimes it isn’t healthy and can eat away at you. It’s almost as if you are mentally beating yourself up. I mean, does it really matter that you had a piece of cheesecake two weeks ago? Well, if you are three weeks away from a fitness show, then maybe, but otherwise, what’s the big deal… because 5 years from now, even 5 months, that day and err will be forgotten..

You can regret not going to a birthday party, funeral, or otherwise social event. That happens to be how you were feeling that day, the mood that you were in, or the company that you were going to have to keep. If you made the conscious decision not to attend and now you are feeling guilty, don’t dwell on it, you can’t get that event back. Why keep torturing yourself. Be sure, though, that you keep that in your active memory so that the next time you decide not to go to, for example, a 50th anniversary party, you say to yourself ‘…remember the last time…’ and you go. You can always leave early, but like most things, when it’s gone, it’s gone, and you can’t get it back.

When it comes to contest preparation, I have always said there is no worse feeling than standing on stage with the feeling of regret… coulda, shoulda, woulda…

If you have made the choice to go after your goals whether it be a fitness contest, art show, or starting your own business, just do it. Don’t make excuses and don’t do it half hearted, because when the end result comes and the final date arrives do you want to look back and have regrets? This, I tell you, is when regret will get the better part of you.

I wish I had spent more money to buy better product…
I wish I had put more time into perfecting my work
I wish I had trained harder, had less cheat meals, dieted longer.

When it is time for the unveiling of your well thought out goal, you want to be sure you have exhausted all resources in your journey toward your goal. There is nothing that you could have done to be any better than you are right at this very moment. You are at your best, the top of your game… win or lose, at the very least you can say “No Regrets”. You can walk away with your head held high. Then and only then can you begin racking your brain in order to figure out how to be better…. Better than your best. One of my favorite quotes “Don’t worry about being better than everyone else, worry about being better than you used to be.”

In my own archive of regrets I can say that a few of them were well thought out but just turned out to be wrong. Some were due to temptation and many were done under a lot of stress. A few were also caused by complete ignorance and stupidity. I can though say that within the few regrets that I do have no matter how cliché it may sound, it is with the things I did not do. Chances I may have missed, opportunities I did not act on, and things that I didn’t do. But as I had encountered that feeling, I can honestly say that I have learned to take more chances, put myself out there, and try new things. At least I can say I tried, and never wonder ‘what if.’ It can be a scary road though, so travel with care.

In the treasure chest of our brains we keep a little compartment of all our ‘regrets’. Things we should have done, and definitely things that we should not have done. Does it help to review them in some kind of formal fashion? Maybe, but this is not an easy thing to do. So in your pursuit of ‘no more regrets’, I wish you a safe journey.

Make it a rule of life never to regret and never to look back. Regret is an appalling waste of energy; you can't build on it; it's only for wallowing in.

From a figure competitors blog...

This is a very good read and worth sharing.

Im often asked how I do it. How I am able to stay on track despite challenges I face and the busy schedule I endure. I want to share with you all that I have learned from my journeys, so that you too, can be successful! Don’t be mistaken, I am not writing about a magic diet, ultimate training program or a secret pill. I want to talk to YOU about the psychological side of reaching your ultimate goals.

To reach your goals, first you must firmly establish what your goal is. Define it, be detailed and dig deep within yourself. If there were no obstacles in your way, what do you want to achieve? Take a moment; clearly decide what your goal is. By thoroughly defining why those goals are important to you, the more likely you will succeed. Don’t generalize to say just gain muscle, lower body fat, eat healthier, etc. Where, how much, by when? Goals are very specific things you have decided to accomplish; they can be measured, which allow you to know that you’ve achieved them.

Now ask yourself what it is that you need to do to reach your goal. Is it getting up earlier to make it to the gym? Cooking food ahead of time? Carrying a portable cooler with you? Getting to bed earlier? Hiring a coach? Open your eyes; you set a goal because you are not where you want to be. Whatever you are doing now, whether it’s your diet, your training or your mindset, has not worked. CHANGE! You must change and be receptive to it; be willing to step beyond your normal means. Wait, did I say change? Stop! Don’t go back and start adjusting your initial goal yet. Set a solid, clear plan of action and stick to it. If you fail to plan, you are planning to fail.

What are your values? Real, genuine values are the foundation for success. Not just for fitness and health but everything in life. They never fail, and are the basis of the outcome - if you reach your goals or you fail. Values are the disciplines in life you set for yourself; they come from habits that form your lifestyle. Your lifestyle defines your character, which becomes your destiny.

This brings me to my next section - your character. It’s the product of your values. A person who reaches the goals they set for themselves, who dares to dream and accomplishes them, has a strong value system. At the top is integrity. It’s about being honest with yourself and doing what you have to every step of the way, 100%, regardless of the struggles you may face. Integrity is thinking every step through and putting up what is required of you – the obligation to stay on the path, the plan outlined to reach your goals. Intent is NOT the same. You have to work for what you want. Success is earning it, not just owning it. There is no value in your accomplishments if you didn’t have to work hard and make sacrifices.

Are you committed to reaching your goals? Not just trying, adhering to your plan for a while, but 100% effort and full concentration to what you clearly defined when you set your goals. Often times, the more committed you are, the more you sacrifice, the more inconveniences you will face and more often your perseverance is tested. But when a successful person clearly commits to their goals, it provides the determination and strength to do the unbearable. To CHANGE! Your commitment allows you to push past those hard times, and when you don’t think that you can give it anymore, you dig deeper, and push past those barriers. You will never succeed if you are not willing to change, to grow in character and prove yourself. NOTHING in life comes just because you want it! Failure is a lack of commitment. Press on! Nothing can take the place of hard work and perseverance.

Lastly, you must make your goals a clear vision of what you desire to accomplish. Start each day as a fresh opportunity to prove to yourself you are strong, you are capable to change and you have a visual image of your goals. Believe in them! Vision, coupled with a strong foundation of values is the key to success. You achieve what you see. Without a daily vision, you will stumble and wander aimlessly away from where you want to be. People who successfully reach their goals know what the future can hold, what they want and what they have to do to get there. They don’t give up. They take the obstacles they face, grow from them by being better than they used to be; not being better than someone else.

The journey to success is not easy for anyone, but I promise you that when you take the proper steps, build a solid foundation within your character, it will make the road to success more rewarding! Remember your success is giving others around you hope that they too, have the power to change!

So what do you want? Go ahead, define it! Don’t put it off for another day. Your future depends on it!

Question of the day...

Some people grin and bear it. Successful people smile and change it. What do you need to "smile and change" in your life?

My experience at Costco...

So today was my first day giving out samples at Costco. Ironically I stood next to EAS's protein powder and the whole time I'm giving out Ponds towelettes I was looking at the protein powder envisioning myself giving out samples of it instead. Showing my before and after pic while telling all about my Body for LIFE transformation.

I was fascinated watching all the people. For the most part everyone was very friendly and I truly did enjoy my day.

The sad part was seeing how overweight America truly is. I seriously wanted to cry.

The booth with the most action was directly across from me giving out Jelly Belly, Jelly Beans. Go Figure.

I seriously feel emotionally drained. I would give ANYTHING to give out EAS samples so I can share my story. I did this once a Walmart and it was a HUGE success.

Maybe someone from EAS will read this and hear my plea???

My Inspiration this week!

#1 = Austin

He has been walking/running on the treadmill at a speed of 5 every night. His short little legs are going and he is huffing and puffing, BUT he is doing it. The amazing part is he has been putting on my weighted vest..which ia an extra 20 lbs. I am amazed at his determination.

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

The pic is pretty dark and he is in his undies, but I wanted you to get a visual of this. :)

#2 = Karli

She asked Tom if he would take a bike ride with her to our local grocery store the other night. He said "oh honey you still have training wheels and ride home is all uphill." She told him "I don't care I can do it." He looked at me..shrugged his shoulders and said "okay..lets go"

Karli took off running outside and Tom told me to standby cause he would probably be calling me to come pick them up.

After about 30 min I decided I better go pick them up. I headed down around the corner and low n behold here they are coming back. I was in AWE and once again inspired.

It shows if you want to do something YOU CAN DO IT!

Corn Rolls and a look at the new Body for LIFE shield

My sweet daughter Karli and I go rounds when it comes to fixing her hair. She won't let me put braids, pig tails or barrets in ..without me begging her. This morning while leaving for her golf lesson I asked her if I could please put her hair up in a ponytail so it would stay out of her face. She said no thank you and walked off. UGH...it's SOOOO frustrating. Well, when she came home today she told me she would let me put lots of braids in her hair..so we took her to the salon and had some corn rolls put in. She looks darling.

I love my grandparents. They inspire me in so much.

Here my gramps is taking my grams over to my cousins graduation party in the rhino...as you can see he is looking down at her bottle of 'beer' (rootbeer that is)...... He seriously thought after 60 years of marriage she was having a beer for the first time. LOL

My Grandma walks on the treadmill 45 min - 6 days a week and her house is always spotless in spite of all the company they get daily.

My Grandpa still hunts for big game, grows a big garden and stays active in many ways.

We don't have to grow old people....Michelle Lee sent me the coolest magnet that reads.....

Lovin Life n Gettin Fit.

My sister came over to see me wednesday and I was able to do a lower body workout with her. I LOVE this...haha

She was telling me she couldn't do the lunges and I kept telling her YES YOU CAN! She did them and boy oh boy was she hurting at the end of our workout.

I am having so much fun keeping everyone on track, encouraging them. I need to open a training studio. I REALLY DO. It makes me feel ALIVE and I know it's my passion. So why am I afraid??

I did contact Body for LIFE Champion Thomas Phillips. He told me if I ever wanted to open a studio that he would give me tips on buying the most effective equipment at the best prices. SO that is a first step. :)

I got a weekend job yesterday. I will be giving out DOVE samples at Costco. I have been wanting something, but with the price of gas I was not too excited about looking. Coeur d'Alene is 35 min from my house. But I think this job will pay me enough to make it well worth it. I worked a sample booth at Walmart for EAS a few years back and I had the best time.

Thank you Maria for the tip. :) This company is looking for woman all over to work different jobs like this ...so if you are interested in some extra cash let me know and I'll forward the list to ya. ;)

My daughter was heartbroken yesterday. When I picked her up from school she was in tears..I looked at the teacher to ask what was wrong and she was in tears. I guess Karli told her she didn't want school to be out...that she was going to miss her. It broke my heart.

On the flip side my son Austin was jumping up and down the hall yelling...School's out for the SUMMER! LOL

Tom has the day off today..so we are off to do something fun. The sun is shining in Idaho and I LOVE IT.

Have a GREAT day everyone.

Progress not Perfection!

Katie called me frustrated that she had missed a meal today.... This is where RTD shakes and bars come in handy. She is a Firefighter/EMT and when they get a call ..they have to go. I don't think she should be so hard on herself...she really couldn't do anything about this situation. But I do know how she is feeling. You want to do the challenge by the book to a T with no errors.

I truly think that encouraging this group is going to help me be kinder to myself.

Take it day by day..give it 100%, but don't beat yourself if your day doesn't go exactly how you have planned. Document everything and move onto the next day.

This is a 12-week challenge, BUT it is Body for LIFE.

Keep going strong everyone.

Ready, Set, GO..GO..GO!!!

To Tom, Katie, Terry, Faith and Shelby .....

Tomorrow is Day 1 of an incredible journey. You are not only going to change physically, but mentally and spiritually as well.

I am so honored to be a part of your Body for LIFE challenge. I am so proud of ALL of you for taking this 1st step. I know the before pics were not easy..but you will be showing the world when you have your after pic to go with it.

I promise to be an excellent leader....and I'm ALWAYS here for you.

CHEERS to a new beginning!

How Tracy got her FIRE back!

I am on top of the world.

I now understand why I was in such a slump and couldn't get my head on straight. Back when I was training women in my home I was SO HAPPY...it made me feel so good. I stopped doing it and I think it is the missing link. Well not any more... I have FIVE people starting Body for LIFE on Monday and I am JACKED! (oh and Linda if you read this..remember Jacked in Idaho means EXCITED..not DRUNK. LOL)

I can be a LEADER and help them achieve their Body for LIFE and in the meantime I can reach new heights while being a role model. I seriously don't know when I have been so excited.

I know if you want people to follow you better be an darn good leader. I AM GOING TO DO JUST THAT.

So everyone give a cheer to Tom, Terry, Katie, Faith and Shelby. In 12 weeks you are going to see some awesome transformations.

oh and let's not forget TRACY. I am going to come in looking better than my last show.

So if you want to join..take that before photo and LET'S DO IT!

Please consider making a donation!

Kiss "Leuk" goodbye!

Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket

My oldest daughter, Jonnae, was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (we refer to it as "Leuk") in April 2005. When "Leuk" hit her the hardest, she still amazed us with her spirit and attitude. Her two and a half year fight with "Leuk" is almost over. I think my participation in a triathalon is the perfect way to mark Jonnae's victory. Its a win for everyone. She will be done with the spinal taps, bonemarrow aspirations, blood transfusions, hospital stays and drugs and will be "Leuk" free, I will be pushing myself to new heights, accomplishing something I've never done before and we can thank the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society for the contributions they have made, by funding more research so that we can KISS LEUK GOODBYE FOREVER! Welcome to my Team In Training home page.

I am training to participate in the Walt Disney World Triathalon as a member of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Team In Training. All of us on Team In Training are raising funds to help stop leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin lymphoma and myeloma from taking more lives. I'm completing this event in honor of all individuals who are battling blood cancers, especially in honor of my sweet Jonnae. These people are the real heroes on our team, and we need your support to cross the ultimate finish line - a cure!

Over the course of the last two and a half years, many people have asked for us to let them know if there is anything they can do. My answer has always been to pray, but now I'm asking for additional support in the way of a donation. Please make a donation in honor of Jonnae and to support my participation in Team In Training and help advance the Society's mission. My fundraising goal is a lofty one, I set a goal of $7000, representing a $1000 for each member of our family.

I hope you'll visit my web site often. Be sure to check back frequently to see my progress. Thanks for your support!
