Who is in your Flock???

As I was reading my daily emails from my fitness friends I was thinking about how blessed I am to have such a huge, positive support group. My flock happens to be all long distance friends, but that is okay. I love and appreciate each and every one of you.

Who is in your flock?? You have to be very careful about this and especially when you have goals you are trying to reach. Don't let negative words or people bring you down. Rise above that and be a leader. Hopefully your positive attitude will rub off on them. LOL

If you are giving out positive there is no doubt you will get back positive. Maybe try to pick three people daily and send them an uplifting message or drop a card in the mail to them. Envision how you feel when you get an unexpected card, phone call or gift... then turn around and do just that for someone else. It makes me smile writing this.

Okay...enough talking about it. I'm off to encourage someone today.

PS: I took my husband, brother and sister's before picture last night. We are on a mission to help them achieve their Body for LIFE. I am so EXCITED and will keep you posted. ;)

Blogging Blues...

So I haven't really felt like blogging in awhile. I am trying REALLY hard to put my family, home, workouts first and then give myself a little computer time. :)

Hubby bought me a new bike. I am LOVIN it. My legs were on fire yesterday and it felt sooo good. Pulling my daughter behind me going up hills is very hard, but I think it is really going to help with the intensity of my biking.

I will post some pics of the Idaho trails. It is so beautiful here. I'm waiting for some Body for LIFE buds to come visit me so I can take 'you' floating the river and biking. :)

I talked to Maria yesterday and she is taking care of her dad. She has the BIGGEST heart..I love that girl. We are moving full force ahead with our competition plans. We both reminded each other that we will take one day at a time with "NO PRESSURE".

My sister has an email address now...thanks to Troy (zooman) giving her a computer. Isn't that AMAZING! If you have a minute drop her a word of encouragement. I would truly appreciate it. Christa@imbris.net

I wish we ALL lived by each other. Can you imagine if we all lived on Wisteria (sp) Lane like the Desperate housewives? Oh my heck..it would be one big fitness arena. That would be AWESOME!

Positive Self Talk.....

Struggling with being unhappy with yourself or your physique?

Struggling with getting thru your training and cardio?

Try POSITIVE SELF TALK: Pick 3 positive statements about yourself, your physique, your strength, whatever makes you feel good about YOU! Try repeating the statement three times. For example, when I get in the weight room I will look in the mirror and tell myself I AM A STRONG BODYBUILDER. Just using the word BODYBUILDER makes me feel strong and mentally ready to hit my 10's.

I use phrases such as, "I am Strong. I am Fearfully and Wonderfully Made. I am Determined. I am a Cardio Machine! Then when I'm tempted to eat something bad, get down from other people's negative comments, or feel like I can't finish my training, these phrases pop in my head and keep me going.

You will struggle with temptation, people will say inconsiderate things to you about your physique, and you will feel like you have nothing more to give. HOWEVER - You are ultimately in control of your actions. No one makes you quit early on your cardio, lift half heartedly, or eat that donut. Be strong, love yourself, and ACCOMPLISH YOUR GOALS!

(1) Champions are positive thinkers; they believe in themselves.

Undoubtedly the most important quality that all champions share is an unwavering belief that they will succeed. Champions always look for the good in every situation. No matter what obstacles they encounter, they always continue to think positive. Without confidence, faith in your abilities, and positive mental attitude, you've defeated yourself before you ever step onstage.

(2) Champions visualize their successes.

Champions understand the importance of positive mental imagery or visualization. Champion bodybuilders visualize exactly how they want their bodies to look, they see themselves standing onstage accepting the first place trophy, and they mentally rehearse every workout in vivid detail. They do this over and over in their minds hundreds or even thousands of times before it becomes physical reality.

(3) Champions surround themselves with positive people and avoid negative influences.

Champions keep themselves in a "positive shell" and do not associate with negative people, places, or things. Arnold Schwarzenegger put it this way: "I have nothing to do with negative relationships. I stay away from negative influences. I have no time for negative thinkers and pessimists. Such people will suck you dry until you have become as pessimistic as they are. Then you'll have not just one but two losers."

(4) Champions are goal setters.

Champions realize that if they don't know where they're going, that is exactly where they'll end up; nowhere! Champions consistently set long and short-term goals. From day to day workout goals to long term career objectives, champion's have written out specific, measurable goals with a deadline.

(5) Champions have a burning desire to succeed.

Champions not only have goals, but they ardently desire them. Robert Collier, summed up the idea of desire beautifully in his 1926 self-help classic Secret of the Ages." He said, "Very few people know how to desire with sufficient intensity. They do not know what it is to feel and manifest that intense, eager, longing, craving, insistent, demanding, ravenous desire which is akin to the persistent, insistent, ardent, overwhelming desire of the drowning man for a breath of air, or a desert-lost man for a drink of water, or the famished man for bread and meat." Champions have burning desire. They want it and they want it badly.

(6) Champions are disciplined and consistent.

Champions live and breathe the bodybuilding lifestyle all year round. They are committed and disciplined in training and dietary practices. They know that in bodybuilding there is no off-season and success does not come overnight. Champions never miss a scheduled workout and never miss a meal. Champion bodybuilders are probably the most dedicated athletes in any sport.

(7) Champions are persistentChampions never, ever quit.

Thomas Edison was the epitome of persistence: He conducted 10,000 experiments before finally finding a filament that would burn in the electric light bulb. Champion bodybuilders approach their vocation with the same diligence of an Edison. They know that if they persist long enough, eventually they must succeed.

(8) Champions learn from their failuresChampions don't view losses as failures, they see them as learning experiences.

When asked how it felt to fail 10,000 times, Thomas Edison replied, " I didn't fail, I learned 9,999 ways that wouldn't work." Champions know that they haven't failed until they quit; but once they quit, then they have failed. A champion finds a lesson in every apparent loss and finds ways to grow from it.

(9) Champions have incredible powers of focus and concentration. Champions set goals and then maintain a laser-like focus on them. They have the ability to always keep the long term objective in their sights while focusing 100% on what they are doing at the moment.

If you watch a champion train you will notice that they are completely oblivious to their surroundings. 100% of their focus and concentration is on what they are doing. They almost appear to have slipped into a hypnosis-like trance. This peak physiological and psychological state has often been referred to as being in "the zone" or being in "flow." Champions can access this state instantly at will. When it comes time to train they turn everything else off and zero in on what they are doing.

(10) Champions have a deep love and boundless enthusiasm for the sport.

To a loser, training and dieting is work and drudgery. To a champion, training and dieting are a love, a joy, and a passion. Champions are enthusiastic about what they do; they can't wait to train each day. Motivational speaker Tom Hopkins once said, "Work is anything you're doing when you'd rather be doing something else." Champions are doing what they love, so to them it's not work at all, its fun!

(11) Champions strive for constant and never ending improvementChampions are never satisfied with the status quo; they never rest on their laurels. Champions aim for small improvements every day in every way. Champions are open-minded and are always looking for a better way to do things.

Although champions are always striving for more, they also realize that success is a journey, so they enjoy each moment and savor every step along the way.

(12) Champions are hard workers; they are willing to go the extra mile. Positive thinking, goal setting, visualization, desire, persistence, and enthusiasm are vital, but without action and hard work, these traits are all worthless.

Champions make themselves go to the gym when they don't feel like going. Champions stay on the bike another 15 minutes, even when they are exhausted. Champions do 5 extra reps after the losers have stopped. Champions are steadfast with their diets when the failures break down and cheat. Champions have the willingness to train through the pain barrier while the failures quit when it starts to hurt. In short, champions go the extra mile!

Seattle Times

Tom and Austin had a great time in Seattle. They went to the Mariners/Yankees game, the zoo, the pacific science center, the space needle, nike town and pike street market to name a few. While going into the pacific science center Tom noticed Sanjya from American Idol. He said he is like 50 lbs..just a tiny little guy.

Austin really didn't want a pic with him, but I asked him to please get one. He didn't know who he was...for all he knew we were asking him to stand next to some stranger for a photo. lol

Just a little recap of their weekend. I think they had a great time. :)

Day 6 - God Box

I used to have one of these. Whenever something was bothering me I would sit down and write a letter to God, drop it in my God box and forget about it.... Trusting in Him completely.

Once we get out of the business of trying to be all-powerful in our own lives and everyone else's, we give God the freedom to do what only He can do--be God! Tremendous freedom and healing flow into our lives when God is given his rightful place.

Why is there such therapeutic value in giving God our worries? Because tension, stress, and anxiety feed our compulsions. If we happen to be overeaters, they trigger our overeating. But compulsive behavior decreases in direct proportion to the growth of our faith. The worries we trust God to handle cannot act as fuel to our compulsions.

So today maybe you would like to make a God box. Whenever a person, situation, or thing causes you worry, jot it down on a slip of paper, fold it up and slip it in your God box. Confess to the Lord that you have tried unsuccessfully to control or solve these worries. Tell Him that you desire His will in each circumstance of life. Do not take it out and reread it. Every time you are tempted to worry about these things, remind yourself that they are in God's hands. Then praise God for His faithfulness.

Phillipians 4:6-7 Do not worry about anything, but pray and ask God for everything you need, always giving thanks. And God's peace, which is so great we cannot understand it, wil keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

Day 5 - Rarity

Denise sent me the most wonderful book The Greatest Miracle in the World. I know there are many people out there reading this so I won't say too much, but I just can't quit thinking about the second law that is stated in the book.

Proclaim Your Rairity!

This really hit me hard. It's amazing if you really think about it..how God created us each so different...and instead of embracing our rarity we often complain and daydream about things we would like to change.

Read this...

But who did I bring forth?
YOU! One of a Kind. Rarest of rare. A priceless treasure, possessed of qualities in mind and speech and movement and appearance and actions as no other who has ever lived, lives, or shall live.
Why have you valued yourself in pennies when you are worth a king's ransom?
Why did you listen to those who demeaned you?
Take Counsel. No longer hide your rarity in the dark. Bring it forth. Show the world. Strive not to walk as your brother walks, nor talk as your leader talks, nor labor as do the mediocre. Never do as another. Never imitate. For how do you know that you may not imitate evil; and he who imitates evil always goes beyond the example set, while he who imitates what is good always falls short. Imitate no one. Be yourself. Show your rarity to the world and they will shower you with gold.

Isn't that just AWESOME!!!

I think the most important thing to remember is that there is ONLY one Tracy Jeffries. No one can be me. God made me unique and precious in his sight. He made me at a very specific time for VERY specific reasons

I am special to God in a way NO one else can be--WE ALL are. Do I love all of my children with the same amount of love--of course! Do I, "however" treasure the unique WAY that I love each one of them differently through the relational aspects that make them unique? Of course!!!

How unique am I? How important is my calling in this world and in my SPECIFIC life?

Read the folliwng verses VERY carefully and then watch this:

Did you HEAR what Paul Said?????? he said that GOD ...the Lord of heaven and earth..made each and every single one of us "AT A VERY SPECIFIC time....and for a VERY SPECIFIC reason"

For what purpose? To seek, reach, find Him and LIVE i and through Him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So, I am not an accident...neither is the place where I live, or the people I know and love...ALL have purpose....for ME in time and space. WOW!!! Praise to be to Lord who loves us and keeps us!

We are the Apple of His EYE and he's watching us and protecting us:

Keep me as the apple of your eye; hide me in the shadow of your wings (Psalm 17:8).

Day 4: Inside Out

WoW...this chapter really hit home with me and I was just talking to my friend Sara Myron yesterday about how some days I feel like such a phoney to all my Body for LIFE and fitness friends. What I mean when I say this is I am so guilty of spending tremendous amounts of time and energy on my exterior and far too little time on my interior, which leads to such an empty feeling and lack of desire to TRULY help others. I know when I was on fire for the Lord I was on fire to help others and not just one liners.."GOOD JOB", "KEEP GOING STRONG", etc. I truly would pick at least three people a day and encourage them with a message that I truly felt came from the Lord.

I don't want to put on a facade anymore. I want to work on my interior more than my exterior. It will be then that I can truly help myself and most importantly others.

I remember at my first figure competition looking around at all the beautiful bodies and admiring all their hard work. But I can honestly say there were alot of gloom faces..no glow to them at all. It's then when you wonder if they have a peace on the inside. There is nothing better than an all natural face lift that comes from that glow because the Lord is living inside you and His light is shining through you.

The Lord is not interested in an instant makeover. When we surrender to him , he comes in and remodels us, inside and out, into totally new creations!

Father, Thank you for caring more about who I really am than who I pretend to be. Thank you that my facade never fools you, for you know your own creation from the inside out--and you, love me anyway! Lord, I give you permission to do an interior makeover on my life. I place myself, my whole personality---motives, emotions, hidden needs, and inner drives--in your hands. Do with me as you will, Lord. I want to be exactly who you designed me to be. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

Day 3 - Family takes priority..

Yesterday my grandpa's yorkie was having breathing problems and since they were out of town I spent the day with him loving on him while he received treatments throughout the day at the vet.

The chapter was on control and honestly I just didn't have time to reflect on it, but I will say one thing.

Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you up. James4:10

What I did reflect on is how important it is to lay down MY agenda at times to help family, friends and even strangers in time of need. I feel I can get very selfish and IF things don't go MY way then I can easily get frustrated...which leads to self sabotage.

I didn't do that yesterday. I ate clean, did 30 min of cardio and then laid it down. In the past I would have freaked about missing another workout in a week...feel like a failure and then let it snowball into another missed workout or even worse bad food choices.

NO MORE....I am going to take Life day by day. No need to stress over little things and it made me feel so good to help my gramps..who would be very sad if anything happened to his little Teddy.

Speaking of Grandparents.......
My Grandpa and Grandma are both 80 years young. They are AMAZING people. I am planning on a professional photoshoot of my grams in her workout clothes on her treadmill. She works out every morning 1st thing for 45 minutes. My Grandma INSPIRES me and I want a huge poster of her for my training studio that I will open some day. :)

Day 2 - Surrender/the problem is ME

I think the coolest thing about the whole fitness journey is that I have the power to choose how my day is going to go. I can wake up with a plan and stick to it OR I can fail miserably and find someone else to blame..or something else to blame.

WE have to take responsibility for our actions. You can Choose to go to lunch with friends and not cave..ordering something that is on the plan or you can blame them for pressuring you to join them and since you made the choice to go you say what the heck I'll just join and eat what everyone else is eating...because it's just too hard. You can go to a birthday party and have your cooler packed with your authorized foods and bottled water or you can go and with no plan..end up getting hungry so you join in and then the next day blame the person who threw the party. I don't know maybe none of you do this, but I have in the past. It's easier to blame someone else for my failures rather than take responsibilty. It's all about CHOICES...how bad do you want it??

So let's Choose to have a plan, Let's choose to get our workout accomplished, Let's Choose to have our meals and water available to us at all times. Let's choose to surrender it all to the Lord and let Him fill us with His awesome power and strength. He truly cares about you and as you exercise be aware that the Lord is with you. Offer your time of exercise as a physical expression of thanksgiving and surrender.

Real change can begin when we are willing to see ourselves as the problem and the love of God as the answer.

Day 1 - Surrender/The Problem Eater

So I really didn't think I had a problem with this until after my figure competition. After Body for LIFE I had it all under control and YES I did take full advantage of Free Day. Then after I competed and was Super Strict for 15 weeks...maintenance wasn't as easy as I thought. I just kept telling myself..I will get right back on Body for LIFE and everything will be just fine. UGH..it didn't happen that way. After being so strict ..Body for LIFE (even though VERY healthy and the perfect plan) made me feel like I was cheating. So my mind would say..geez you are cheating so you might as well just eat whatever. SO SILLY and not good. For the most part I do stay on track, but those few days that I didn't really messed with my mind. I am very hard on myself and as you all know an all or nothing type of person. Those few failures really can take a toll on my mind.

This is where my whole Faithfully Fit journey is coming in. I know I am Strong and I know I have discipline...it's when I step away from the Lord that everything starts crumbling. I know, I know, I know when I am off track. I feel so unbalanced and like I'm not doing enough, giving enough of myself and then deep down I'm empty and feeling like a failure.

No more of this. I refuse to stay in prison and this stinkin thinkin must go.

White Flag

Faithfully Fit

I am starting a new journey for the next forty days. I not only want to be fit, but I want to be Faithfully Fit.

Week 1 - SURRENDER (se ren' der) v. 1. to give up possession of. 2. to abandon or relinquish control. 3. to give oneself up, esp. as a prisoner.

I am ready to begin this forty day journey to being Faithfully Fit by surrendering it all to God. I know He is able to do "much,much morn than anything I can ask or imagine" I am going to completely TRUST and I know once I do this I will be able to accomplish some pretty great things.

I don't have a desire to be fit and be a role model just by chance. I know there is a greater reason and I just need to stay on that narrow road with alot of focus and determination. Will it always be easy?? NO, but it will be worth it.

So if you want come along side me..let's head down the narrow path together..not only getting physically and mentally fit, but most imporatanty spiritually fit.

It's then that I not only believe we succeed with our own Dreams and Goals, but it's then when we can help others as well.

Five Tools of INTENTION...

1. Desire - Wanting something to take place in our life is the seed of creation; it is the beginning of everything. Everything in our world has a reason for existing. So, every desire we have contains within it the necessary resources to make it a reality. If we dream of being a figure competitor, then we are fully capable of doing so! We would not have the idea or inclination if it were not possible for us.

2. Visualization - Having a clear mental image of our goals and dreams is vital to achieving them. Keeping your goals in mind and rehearsing the celebration of achievement are powerful tools that can keep you focussed as you move forward. Close your eyes daily and visualize yourself living the health and fitness lifestyle of your dreams.

3. Action - Once you make the decision to move toward health and vitality, it's extremely important to take IMMEDIATE action to let the Universe know you are serious. When you decide that you are sick and tired of being sick and tired...then it's time to act.

4. Reflection - It is very important to use a journal and record your thoughts, goals, dreams and actions on a DAILY basis. After a few weeks you will know why you look and feel the way you do...you have written records!

5. Persevere - What is the most important character trait for Success? GUMPTION!
Successful people take the initiative to get going and have the perserverance to keep going - NO MATTER WHAT! They do not give up at the first sign of rejection or the first "no" or even the tenth "no"! They commit themselves to continual improvement and see each setback as a learning opportunity for furture endeavors.
